Hi ,

Could I ask one last question please

I'm trying to tie up some loose ends really.I have four importent certs to order to find the names of people or to go further.

I have the marriage reg for two, so thats ok,will take me further hopefully on two Irish lines
I have the birth reg of a daughter which should give mothers maiden name.

But, I thought I had the marriage reg of one Welsh connection on my husbands side.
When I've just looked at it however,no spouse's name is on it,just the woman Elizabeth Morgans, Swansea, 1863.
One of the husbands is missing!

Is there a way of searching for the spouse?

I was rather hoping it would say John Jones.

I found two other marriage's for Elizabeth Morgans but they not really in the time frame or best area and neither to a John Jones, I think both said David.

I have John from 1871 first census after marriage to 1911 as an old man with one of his daughters. His name place of birth and Occupation never varies.

Hi thanks Stuart.

Perhaps I should leave that Certificate alone for now.
Do you know why there are Three possible Spouses for Thomas Tipton ?
I don't understand how there is only one male and three possible wives.Am I missing something?
Apologies for being a bit slow!

Elizabeths husband was John Jones a tailor from Llandilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales

On the census and via his daughters marriage cert,he is John Jones.

Rather think Hans Andres is a male name, so the record shows the 2 male and 2 females who married on that registration. You would then need to go forward to the next census and try to match the "pairs"

EDIT - I think you will find the record I gave is a red herring as it so happens and FMP have posted an incorrect name in Hans now other info has been posted for you
FURTHER EDIT - someone had posted other information which now seems to have disappeared on the other thread (or this one)

So much better to keep the question to one post, instead of having people working on exactly the same question in two posts and see what a mix up it has caused

Sorry Stuart
about the two post's I was unsure of what to do. I should have marked the other one as answered!

I have already added the question and couldn't find a way of taking it off.

Thanks for your input. I'm glad that I didn't go ahead and order. More research needs to be done first I think.

Thank you again and sorry for the double post.

Thanks Stuart,
I've been looking at so many records today and my brain is fried!

I've deleted the duplicate question.

I think I was making the asumption that Catherine Jones parents married in Swansea, why I don't know.
Both came from Carmarthenshire, Wales !

John born about 1836 Llandilo
Elizabeth Morgans born about 1839 Treleach AR Bettws, Carmarthenshire, Wales

I assumed they married between 1860 and Catherines birth 1862/63

My only excuse is that I haven't looked at this line of my husbands for a long time and it was one of the first ones on his side that I tried to research,so was a newbie at the time.

I know quite alot about Elizabeth prior to her marriage and have followed her family line.
But John Jones! All I have are Census after the marriage and his daughter's marriage cert.

I have Elizabeth up untill 1851 then there is a gap for both of them untill 1881 when the family are together in Swansea.
Daughter Catherine was born in Swansea 1863 as were her sibs

So I don't know where they were in 1871

I think I need to try and find the family 1871 and maybe the parents in 1861 which looking at my records I have failed to do.

Thanks for all your help,I feel I need to sort things out re John and Elizabeth and Catherine census wise before ordering any certs for them.

do you actually have Catherine's birth certificate giving her mothers name?

Elizabeth could be her step-mother

Thanks lancashireAnn,

I have been going along those lines this morning

I don't think the Census you found, death for Rachel and marriage to Elizabeth are a coincidence

I now think that Catherine's mother was Rachel, wife of John Jones a tailor from Llandilo.

So John married again to Elizabeth after the death of his wife to Rachel.

My Catherine has the wrong mother on my Ancestry tree along with some of her Sibs.
I really don't know how to fix it.

I don't have Catherine's birth cert, just her marriage cert and census 1881 onwards.

Perhaps there is a baptism for her,I'll have a look then I might have a chance of finding her birth
