Please can someone tell me how to check ; if possible ; immigration into Canada sometime in late 19th early 20th Century .The people I am looking for disappeared after the 1891 census and I know that some branch of that family ended up in Medicine Hat Canada but not sure who?Thankyoufor any advice you are able to give.

Some Canadian records are on Ancestry.

Census 1891 1901 and 1911

Passenger lists to 1935.

If you care to post some details then people here can try to help

Ancestry has
Exact Search Results - Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935
View Record David Whetstone year date vessel Montreal, Quebec location

As you can guess from the lack of detail, this is a free search as I've no sub.

We can keep trying Year of arrival & pin it down to 1903.
Next we guess Port of Departure (try Liverpool, Glasgow, London, Southampton, Bristol in that order).
It's Liverpool

Now drill down at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/index-e.html
To get to http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/passenger/001045-130-e.html
Pre-1900 is nominally indexed, but we're post-1900.
Search Liverpool-Montreal in 1903 - 79 hits

Back to Ancestry to get vessel
Try *ian, lake*, (*ion, *nic, *tic etc) - hit with *ian - hit with b*ian, so it's the Bavarian
However, there's no easy way of seperating out

1. BAVARIAN Montreal, Que. - 1903-05-02
Quebec, Que. -
2. BAVARIAN Montreal, Que. - 1903-06-06
3. BAVARIAN Montreal, Que. - 1903-07-11
Quebec, Que. -
4. BAVARIAN Montreal, Que. -
Quebec, Que. - 1903-08-14
Rimouski, Que. - [1903-08]
5. BAVARIAN Montreal, Que. - 1903-10-23
Quebec, Que. -
6. BAVARIAN Montreal, Que. - 1903-09-19
Quebec, Que. -

It can be a real pain to find David - in this case he's on page 10 of 31 of the May voyage
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/e/e147/e003653572.jpg

He's a Boot C? bound for Winnipeg

Similary we can pin down this 1905 arrival to
Marjory Whitstone year date Bavarian Montreal, Quebec Liverpool, England

Again more pain

Ship: BAVARIAN
Departure Port and Date (yyyy/mm/dd): Liverpool, England - 1905-06-29
Port and Date of Arrival: Montreal, Que. - 1905-07-07
List includes: "Lake, Ontario" Church of England Waifs & Strays Society to Niagara on the Catholic Immigration Asso
