Err. No sad faces Sue Maid. :-D

Can't you post some details to see if we can help?

Jill - my Samuel Crowther was born in 1805 in Leeds. By the time of the 1841 census he is married with 3 children including my great grandfather. That's why I have no idea who is siblings were. Trouble is - in Leeds there were soooo many John Crowthers.

Oh....well that's blown that out of the water :-(

Thanks Jan. I'd rather know that than blindly go forward thinking that the people I found are my ancestors.

Back to the drawing board :-(

Sue, I think what you are looking at is the name entries on the 1881 census with the father's name of John Crowther.

Was your Samuel born c1859? in Leeds? If he was, we can find him on the census' for you and see what siblings are named.

Sue, I think the batch number refers to compilation of the records - see:

https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/IGI_Batch_Number_Descriptions

If you click on it (I assume you are accessing the Familysearch site) you will see thousands of records have the same number.

I take it that you looked at FamilySearch?

The batch numbers are all to do with knowing the relevant films the originals are copied to.

It sounds as though you are right but I'll take a look and see for you.

Back in a bit.

I have long tried to find siblings for my 2 x great grandfather Samuel Crowther. I know nothing about Batch No's but I had a look at a website and found a number of people baptised in St Peters Leeds with John as their father and all with the same batch number including my great grandfather. Does this mean they are siblings?

Thank you in advance.

Sue
