It says that she is a spinster aged 22 years

Her father is William Fletcher on her marriage certificate and it states that he is deceased.

The photocopier has knocked off the end of the profession but is says Electro-plat(er).

Thank you.

Yes, patchem. That is the marriage in Bristol but she says that she was born in London on the Census. Thank you.

Although registration began in 1837 it was not compulsory to register births until 1875 ish

What is the name and occupation of her father on the marriage cert ?

lavender Report 16 Aug 2012 23:09

Sorry, Glitterbaby, I just saw your note. Does that happen that the birth wasn't registered? I suppose that this might mean that people would guess their age. I did wonder whether her husband was just putting her down as the same age as him.

I have got a photograph of her which was a real find! Many thanks for your kind help

Yes, I have thank you patchem, a relation sent me a copy of the original certificate only this week.

I also have found her on the census but have spent the day trying to figure out if she was on the 1871 census. I don't think that I have found her there although I have spent some time studying various people.

I have found her on the later ones too with her children, Amy, Dorothy, Lilian and William.

I haven't found her birth, christening... her father is William Fletcher... :-) thank you

Have you got the wedding information for her?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 16 Aug 2012 22:56

Do you have the marriage cert?

Bear in mind that her birth might not have been registered

I've just scanned the original and it would appear to be Soho as you have all suggested. There's a lesson for me!

Many thanks to you all for your time. Not sure then that the reg district of Westminster for her birth in 1864 is correct. Am struggling a bit on this one. I can't find a Therese or a Theresa Fletcher in London in 1866, only a Female Fletcher b. 1866 and that was Islington. Been looking on and off all day. x

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 16 Aug 2012 22:50

Yes I would say it was Soho on the 1891

Enumerator did the "h" a bit strange

lavender Report 16 Aug 2012 22:46

I'm not very good at copy/paste but the lady is Therese Webber, she gives her birth as 1866 (I think it might be 1864) and I think that I was looking at her in the 1891 Census.

She was nee Fletcher and her husband is William Webber.

Many thanks patchem x :-)

Could you give us the census details so we can see what Soles could also be?
Thanks

Added:
Several entries for Soles on different censuses.
Definitely Soho on some of them.

I have an ancestor born in Soles, London according to the Census.

I have struggled to find her birth, I might have found it if this area is the Reg District of St. James, Westminster.

I would be very grateful if anybody could enlighten me as I can't find mention of Soles on the web.

Many thanks :-)
