If you want old pictures of towns & villages go to *bay and put in the search the town you want pics of plus postcards ( eg...Leeds postcards. Then you can save them. All for free :-D :-D

I Googled the place i was born and found a web site set up by a couple of locals they had 6 albums with abt 100 to 120 pictures in each

I'm in 2 of the school photos and all my family Aunts uncles cousins mum dad and grand parent were all listed in several albums going back to the 1920's

The ones on *bay are quite often from private collections that are being sold off. Also some are photographs.

Not so long ago I found a postcard of a photo of my OH's gt grandfather and family in 1906 on Ebay...we got in touch with the seller (a dealer) who amazingly lived only a couple of miles away from us.

As she knew the postcard was going into the hands of the family she gave it us for free we reciprocated with a bottle of vino :-D

www.francisfrith.com is a website full of old photographs taken (by Francis Frith)during the Victorian era. You simply enter the name of the town in the search box. It is also possible to obtain copies.

Whilst you can often copy the pictures from *b*y, if you try to do this with the Francis Frith pages you will be blocked.
