Interested in finding descendants of Maurice and Leah Levy, who had a daughter called Sofia and were still living in Hackney Road in 1919. The father was a bamboo furniture maker! There were several other children - I am sure one was called Gertrud and there was at least one boy! The father was possibly from Austria and the mother came from Russia! (according to the 1911 census)

Sofia had one one son out of wedlock and possibly later married to have further children - married name unknown! There was a Michael and possibly a Sidney of that marriage!

Anybody who has any ideas - these would be most welcome!

Thanks for your clues! I had the census for 1911, but was hoping that somebody might have some idea about some of the offspring! There must be members of that family still around somewhere!

Thanks everybody for offering a helping hand here! The marriage entry is certainly worth a try - could get certificate for this as it might provide additional clues!

As far as I know Sofia did not leave the London area and lived around Hackney/Mile End until she died! Again not sure which year - but possibly 1959 or around that time!

Enter the names of the offspring and if you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

I looked for marriages for Sophie/Sophia Levy (any better idea of when she married, and when illegitimate son was born?) throughout London.
I then looked for children of those marriages to see if there were brothers called Michael and Sidney.
She was young to die in 1959.
I can now look for deaths for Sophie in her possible new names around 1959.
However, I think you could have followed the exact same procedure, if just to methodically cross out marriages.
Where did your information come from, and what were they doing in 1919 for you to quote that date?

Alternatively, there are 16 Sidney, mother's maiden name Levy, born in London from 1918 to 1945 in London, and 6 Sydney.

Added: I thought there would be far more Michael births, but only 20...

There are Sophie Levy/Cohen marriages and Michael births, but this could just be because of the commonness of the name, but possibly worth investigating?

I think this is just because Cohen is common surname;
