Have a look at Talking Scot (www.TalkingScot.com). Go to Forum then General Discussion for an idea of how it works. Very friendly & helpful. You have to register before you can post messages, but it's FREE :-D

You need to purchase credits £7 for 30 credits - usually enough to view 5 images

The site has scottish census 1841 to 1911, BMD's from 1855 but there are restrictions as to what you can view online. Parish records before 1855

Ancestry has the transcription for 1841 to 1901 Scottish census

Also use familysearch
