add a new relative to tree

birthplace......Sydney.........

Try that, and you automatically get SYDNEY Western Australia

if you start typing Edinb....... it automatically brings up EDINBURGH Midlothian, and so on........

I do realise there are places named Sydney elsewhere in the world.

BUT!! Sydney in Australia is in NEW SOUTH WALES, NOT WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The automatic place name generation occurs when one adds a relative to one's GR tree.

Put your complaint on the Suggestions board, which GR reputedly check

Can you describe exactly what it is you are doing when you say

"The GR system automatically brings up....."

Entering data, searching or what?

I don't think so IGP. I have lots of names on my tree from the same places, and their birthplaces are not automatically churned out by GR.

My point is ....... I told them about this OVER TWO YEARS AGO

System "working as it should" ?

I don't think the problem is necessarily of GR's making. It could be because another member has entered it this way previously and it has then been copied into the index, warts and all. If you report it to GR support through the usual channel they might be able to correct it.

just so long as you don't get

Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada

or

Sidney, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

I have notified GR about this at least twice. The first time I told them was AT LEAST TWO YEARS AGO.

They have responded, said something would be done about it.

Try adding a relative born in Sydney New South Wales Australia.

The GR system automatically brings up SYDNEY WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

This is a BASIC!!!

About time it was corrected

Is Sydney the only one listed incorrectly?
