Have you checked dates of birth either side of the expected one?
Have you checked variants of the spelling, or mis spellings?
If you are still stuck, and want someone to look for you, start a thread on 'find ancestors', giving as much info as possible.

hi, i have just started to do my family tree , my great grandad is on the 1911, 1901 census ( with his wife) then goes missing for 1891 (ive found his wife with the kids ) , 1881 in the 71 census he is with he grand parents and i cant find him in his first census in 61 .

all ideas would be a great help xx
