Hi, I wonder if anyone can explain please how a child is traveling by herself, I came across the following. |

Could be they were from a childrens home. Thousands of young children were sent to Canada at this time. Many were told that their parents had died, which wasn't always true. |

Hi Andy, she wasnt from a childrens home I have found her parents in Yorkshire and then again in the 1920 census for Pennsylvania I just wondered why she is travelling alone at the age of 6 |

Hi Margee, I took a look on the next page and find that her travelling alone was passed by a board of enquiry and wondered why, I cannot see any other info that explains this, I will have to delve into this a bit deeper. |

Well, maybe I'm an overprotective mother but I wouldn't dream of sending a 6 year old child on a trans-Atlantic voyage unaccompanied. I remember the voyage at age 8 being frightening and I was with parents. |
