One name study.

I know about the Guild for one name studies but I don't know if I want to get that involved..
Does anyone know of a basic programme for recording instances of a name and how to link them together? I'm thinking of recording Siggs for Essex, Cambs and Suffolk pre 1850, mostly for the selfish reason of sorting out my family tree but it could prove to be useful to others.. (Not many !) I'm looking forward to nights in the campervan in that part of the country!

Researching:
Siggs of Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex and West London, Wise of North Hampshire, Wiltshire and North London and Aubrey/Whiting of South Wales/Herefordshire.

Most commercially purchased familytree programmes to load on your home computer, have the facility to create profiles of stand alone individuals. You can always link them to other saved people at a later date.

There are also a number of free versions on the internet you could down load.

You could look into http://surname.rootschat.com/ if you wanted to upload your confirmed data, or even look for a free host site and create your own website!
