If anyone has spare time it would be appreciated, Im going round in circles. My ancestor Maria Smith was born 1841 in Wessington, Derbyshire according to the census. On her 1862 marriage cert to William Colledge she has no father named, suggesting she was illigitimate. I can't find Maria in 1841/51/61. There is a possible baptism in 1842 to single mother Elizabeth Smith but this is from IGI and Smith is a popular name to say the least. I can't find Elizabeth & Maria together anywhere. I do have Maria and her husband in 1871/81/1901. |

Thomas is with Elizabeth in 1841, no Maria there but hes married to Elizabeth so maybe not my people. I thought they were, as it explained not finding an Elizabeth & Maria Smith in 1841, 1851 or 61. Is the baptism from IGI? Thanks Choccy, much appreciated. x |

Thankyou muchly Safc, that fathers name is invaluable. Looks like another one born out of wedlock so knowing the father is surprising. Im going to order that birth cert now Helen and keep everything crossed that she's mine. x |
