Having trouble reading an entry for a birth place - it looks like "Gadeaster York". I live in Canada and am not familiar with UK place names. I Googled this but found nothing so I hope that it means something to someone on this board.

Is it on a census ? could you give details please

Street name looks like "High L Bordesley" then "3 Back"

Thanks patchem - that looks like it is it. You would think my poor penmanship would enable me to read other's.

Will you give me a year of birth for Henry so that I can take a look at the image. I am presuming that the street name is High Street Bordesley. The design of houses were back to back.

If you Google Bordesley High Street you will get a few interesting pages come up. It's a few miles from me on the main A34 towards Birmingham. Take a look at this website though. I've never been into The Old Crown but your Taylor family might have known it.

Will be traveling to the UK for 4 weeks this spring and will add The Old Crown to the itinerary.

I needed to go into Birmingham today so just when I could do with all the traffic lights being on red, I sailed through. But I was able to get a rough idea and can confirm that the houses no longer stand there.
