yes I have his attestation papers, and your right its the same, dont understand where entry could be. It even gives names of officiating minister and two wittnesses, unfortunatly it doesnt state if this was in a church. I must admit I just assumed it was military because it is on his papers.

His marriage wasn't put onto the marriage roll till 1899 which suggests he married in a local church and not an Army marriage

Was the marriage perhaps in a Maltese church and so not logged under the British system ?

Hello again, I seem to be asking for help all the time of late, this time I have been trying to find a Army marriage. I have the date that is was supposed to have taken place, and the place but I cannot find it. does anyone have suggestions as to why this may be? . I got the details from my Grandfathers discharge papers, it gives date of marriage, the place and spouses name. George Deakes, 3rd July 1894, Malta, Helen Hales widow. It also list the baptisms of all his children, and his shows wifes death, all correctly. :-S
