RR'd means Request for Review ...... this was the old tag, but the new one is Report

You can see it to the right of the poster's name on every post on a thread


We're still using the old abbreviation.


A post can be RR'd for several reasons:-

abusive
unsuitable language
advertising
date of birth and other information given for a living person

or ............ mischief


Some have been RR'd because they mention the name of another genealogical company ......... various members are trying to find out just what we can say in this case!


The ones complained about on this thread were all mischievous.

And the thread about the new tree builder has disappeared altogether...but they have obviously "listened" old tree is available at the mo "while they resolve issues"

Hi everyone what is RR'd, i have never heard of it, or know whats happening, is it not good?I havent been able to much of my history of late so not up to scratch as to whats happening. Look forward to knowing :)

A few years ago a similar situation caused large numbers of us to leave and set up our own genealogy website and forum. Looks like GR are approaching it with a little more compassion this time round! Good for them.

Hi Joy,

No I didn't receive anything or get an apology.

The first thing I knew about it was when I went back to the thread the following day ( after it had been RR'd, as I had gone to bed not long after I'd posted the reply ) as there were more replies added and I saw Roses post about Genes not having the said records anyway! :-S
I came looking on this board wondering what was going on and found Sylvia's thread explaining everything.

Thankfully there are Great GR members like her! :-D

Dunno about that Gai. In the past there have been some right goings on over on Chat. Even though posts were reported, they stayed on view until the office staff were in on the Monday, or the following day.

Its just so irritating that innocuous posts are being targetted. :-|

I think GR should block the Report thread so members can't use it. It just seems to be creating to much grief for no reason.
