As an example my maternal grandfather married in 1898 and his father's name and occupation are on the cert. He remarried in 1909, a widower, and his fathers name is on the cert but recorded as deceased, I spent hours and money trying to find his death between 1898 and 1909 only for an update on FreeBMD at the time showing his death in 1884 aged 37 . |

As I suspected. Thanks for replying, I'm trying to find a year of death and hoped the ref on the marriage record would narrow it down a bit. |
