Go to the LDS site, and download the PAF program to your computer |

You do need some family tree software to look at a gedcom file properly. I believe there are free programs available as I have seen references on other thread. |

thanks all i have put them as male or female and in private notes their names..... i did gedcom export my tree but my laptop wont open the file? do you have to get some family tree software to be able to do it privately on your computer? as im not sure about this as until now i have only used this site and all my information is on here |

if you have the time and inclination, you could edit all the names you want to hide from tree searches. |

I agree with Margee, I only have living people on my own tree on my own computer, on here and other public trees I only have myself. |

I don't think it's wise to put any living people on an online tree. You just can't be assured that the names will not become public. I'm the only living person on my online tree, not my husband, siblings, children or grandchildren. |

Put it onto a familty tree making program on your own computer and just leave a skeleton tree on here. much safer. |

hi all does anyone know how i privatise my family tree? ive already made it so living relatives or any born within the last 120 years cannot be seen yet im told they still appear if someone types in their names in the search trees? thank you |
