When you have a little more information about your family, it may be useful to contact the Wigan History Shop. They hold many records for Wigan including parish registers/businesses/organisations etc. They may well hold something about boatmen. |

To find if your family is connected it's best to work backwards from your family. |

Anyone got information on the Malley family who were canal boatmen? 1871 Census shows them living in the Pottery area of Wigan and then they moved to New Springs near Aspull. My family is connected somehow and I`m trying to find this connection via marriage surnames. |
