Fathers consent to underage marriage

Does anyone know if records of consent for underage marriages exist . I am trying to find the name of the father of a girl of 16 married in 1827, the parish record for this does not name him.

In England and Wales in 1827 their was no civil registration so fathers details very,

also it was legal for girls to marry at 12 and boys could marry at 14
with parental consent but bear in mind that if a girl got married at 12 for the first time and then became a widow say by age 14 then she would not nead to get parental consent to get married the second time around

This has been asked before but I don't think anyone was able to come up with a definitive answer. One suggestion was that the parent may have sometimes signed the register as one of the witnesses, another, that permission had simply been given verbally.

Have you found the banns for this marriage?
Sometimes they offer a bit more information than the marriage entry.

Gwyn i haven't found the banns yet but they are top of my list of things to find when i finally get to visit Wigan.
