I am trying to find the parentage of James Ferguson born abt 1803 maybe in Davington Dumfries shire. On his immigrations he states that his mother is Ellen Beattie. She is listed as living in the same place. He was baptised by a Rev David Stevenson of Wilton. I cannot get a certificate til I find if his other married again and hence her name Ellen Beattie or was her maiden name Beattie. I think his father was probably James Ferguson. James immigrated to Australia as a Bounty Immigrant in 1838 on the Coromandel. He is my gggrandfather. Hope someone can help. Margaret. |

I wonder why be put Ellen Beattie on his shipping register as he staates he could read and write and they seem to be strict Presbyterian. Not that means anything. But could she have married again and her name was not in fact Beattie. Margaret Australia. |
