Have you tried looking on the IGI for a baptism record? If you can find one it could give you his parent's names. |

Can anyone tell me if there is a searchable database online to search employee records for Shipyards in Sunderland. Also is there anywhere similar to search miners records in the same area. I have drawn a blank in researching my great grandfather. I have him on the 1901 and 1911 census, giving his date of birth as c.1865. In 1901 he was working as a shipyard labourer. I have been unable to search my tree back before him as I am unable to find any birth record, so I am now looking into his working life, to see if there are any records there that may give me some more information about him. |
