It is not registration practice to state HM Prison (wherever) or similar institutions. All such institutions have a 'registered address' as mgnv has said and that is used for all registration events which take place 'inside'. |

I've got a workhouse death where it doesn't say Union Workhouse, but instead says 123 Queen St , i.e., the workhouse's street address. |

I would think that anyone dying in prison that their death would in all probability be registered by the Prison Doctor or Governor. |

On the other hand, if it only said H M Prison, the reg district and informant could give you a clue. That's assuming a relative didn't register the death. |

The death certificate will state when and where the person died but unlikely to be specific by stating HM Prison (Wherever). |
