Name of Father, and when, please? Thank-you.
Added: this one? Patrick John Lawrenson Birth Date: 1 Apr 1926 Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1971 Age at Death: 45 Registration district: Nottingham Inferred County: Nottinghamshire Volume: 3c Page: 1013
Marriage and death certificates do not normally mention where born?
|
This is the nearest birth I can find (if the death above is the correct one) although the date of birth given on the death record can't be right as this birth is in the March quarter:-
Name: LAURENSON, Patrick J Registration District: Uckfield County: Sussex Year of Registration: 1926 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar Mother's Maiden Name: Laurenson Volume No: 2B Page No: 175
As patchem has already said - marriage certificates do not usually say where a person is born.

I see you have two threads about this person (looks as though you clicked the "submit" button twice as the time posted is the same on both).
You say on the other thread that you already have the birth certificate I mentioned in my last post. I think this is probably the correct one. The date of birth on a death certificate is only as accurate as the informant's knowledge of the deceased and could be slightly wrong. Also, if a person is illegitimate they often "invent" a deceased father for the marriage certificate so as to save face in front of the new in-laws.

hi Kath,I think you may be right...does this mean the date of birth and spelling of surnames wrong also :( oh nooooo...this means i will never be able to trace my husbands tree now if theres no father :( sigh.... but hey ho at least we know now that this is the correct one we sent for. I feel really sad now knowing hubbys nan gave birth in a workhouse..bless her xx thanks also to all ladies who have been kind enough to spare there time searching an helping me..it means a lot..THANK YOU XXX Andrea
|
think im going to lay this to rest now...ive had quite a few people helping me these past couple of weeks..ive got to accept that the cert ive had for a while must be the correct one..i was hoping it wasn't and that i could build a tree for my hubby..but we cant have everything we want ! ive also realised ive two different posts..so having to jump one to another posting (must of pressed the button twice duh) thanks again all of you who have helped me in the past couple months xxxxxx

Just before you disappear for the night - of course you can do your husband's tree. You follow the female line which is likely to be more accurate anyway.
Also the workhouse was often used as a hospital for those without funds. She may not have been an inmate. Be delighted in how far our families have come within a couple of generations.
The right to vote and education, both have brought us out of a system not far above feudalism.

How about some more details. We can't help you without. What about spellng variations? There can't be many puzzles we've never solved on here. J

Can't find him in Free BMD. Searched under Patrick J, Patrick - both without surnames for London area. Also Lawrenson all counties.
Can't find anything in FreeBMD for Frank J Lawrenson either. Me thinks spelling variation here.
Surname Given Name District Volume Page
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Mar 1926 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Laurenson Patrick J Uckfield 2b 175
The mother's maiden name is also shown as Laurenson. This presumably is the child born in the workhouse.
Does the marriage cert show Patrick's age at marriage and does it make sense alongside the supposed dob as on his death cert?
What was the mother's name on the birth cert you have for the child born in the workhouse?

Psalms,
Your post added twice so you have two threads running. Have a look at the other one. I still think the birth certificate you already have could possibly be the right one (there is no other one on Findmypast that could be a possibility).

Terrific!
I hope you don't mind but I've edited your pasted notes for ease of reading. It looks like you're missing some from the bottom. Not too much I hope.

someone has a tree on Ancestry with possible parents as Frank Edward Lawrenson and Maude M James.(says 2 living children for them no names given) I can only see 1 birth index for a female with this mothers maiden name though? It does give surname of who he married. Was he married to Gooding 1943 then Walker 1966? Tree belongs to Brian Lawrenson (Australia) who says he has been researching the surname for 10yrs!
