I used the electoral registers combined with census records to trace the occupants of our house. If you start out with http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/ and enter your road name, you may just strike lucky. I found some documents relating to the building of our house and visited the local archive to read the documents. |

You should have a few names on the deeds if you bought the house. That doesn't mean that they lived there though they could have rented it out. |

Yes - Owners of Land 1873 - it shows up on Ancestry but you may need a surname. |
