my great grandfather died at 69 herbert road nottingham so i googled and it is still there
would it still be the same house and is there only one herbert road in nottingham

possibly, although some streets can be re numbered if new houses have been built in spaces between properties .

If you use GoogleMaps for the adress you should be able to get an on-street view of the road. When you have the right Google page come up click on the little clipboard that says 'street view'.

Then you can navigate to see the actual house. Those properties are not new so I think you might be looking at the one your grandfather lived in.

thank you the link did work but cant see the door as a bush is in the way

Call up the page again and look at the house with the blue car at the front. Zoom in on that front door and you will see the number 71 and the house on the right of it as you look is 73 so you definately have the right one.

You could also try Google Earth which would give you a view from directly above.
