Lynn

I jus googled "catholic parish of Aglish" in quotation marks and the one Joy mentioned re Angelfire came up straight away.

When you google , if at first you don't succeed try wrapping what you want in quotation marks... try various words from what you want not the exact phrase as well. Have to think laterally, and upside down and as the saying goes "every which way but lose" - 9 times out of 10 you will get somewhere or on the track to somewhere.

Try http://www.google.ie/
then Catholic church Aglish Co Mayo
and there are several useful sites including http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlmayo2/aglish_cp_characteristics.html

Hi Potty and George,

Thanks to both of you for responding. Am back from my attempts on google and like you, Potty, had no luck. Have just tried your suggested link George but there appear to be two Aglish Parishes. The one I'm researching is in County Mayo which is north of the Aglish on the wikipedia map. Am still searching.

Well, I tried that, George. Plenty of hits with genealogical info - but nowhere could I find the name of the church, just references to the Catholic Parish of Aglish!

Thank you George, will do. Why didn't I think of that simple solution? Doh

Information please. Could anyone tell me the names of the Church/Churches in the Aglish RC Parish? My great grandfather was christened in this Parish in 1841 and I would like to identify the Church.
