Lynn.....Did it give the "Townland" for the Marriage of Louis and Esther....?

Unfortunately not., only Aglish RC Parish. Am I correct in thinking that if I could identify the Church then the records from there would give an address? The Elham Farrells didn't feel right because of their home counties, apart from Lewis who had the same name and Roscommon is an adjoining County to Mayo. I put his name and year of birth into roots ireland but when I included surnames of mother and father got the response no records. I also found on roots the birth of another Mayo Farrell to William Farrell and Judith Bellew so have little doubt that these were probably the brother and sister of Luis and Ester wouldn't you say? Am now (fairly) sure that I have the right couple in Luis and Ester because the sponsors at Robert's baptism in 1845 (i.e. Williams brother) both had the surname Russel. Sarah Russel/Rozzell was the person that William (1841) had three illegitimate children with in England. Again that would be a very strange coincidence, especially as it appears to be one of the less common irish surnames.
p.s. have just discovered that there was a Revenue Police Barrack in the Townland of Curragh. Would he have lived close to his employment, maybe?

Lynn...You have probably got the correct area...there were (Speaking about time your searching) 2 Curragh Townlands..as you can see below the were split ...
I would be focusing on the first....
Remember Civil Parish's were not the same as "Ecclesiastical" eg RC Parishs

Curragh 114 acres. Barony of Carra Civil Parish ...Aglish...Poor Law Union... Castlebar.

Curragh 220 acres (B) Tirawley ......(CP) ..Ballynahaglish.... (PLU)..Ballina

Thank you again. How do I now explore the Townland information i.e.where do I search? On a general note, how on earth do you know so much?

Lynn....I dont know that much !!
My passion is Irish History and lots of the info.I have has been collected over the years...I tend to focus on names and places then combine the "Modern" Info.with Historical Primary Source Data....not difficult but time consuming.

To search a Townland all you need to do is put that in a search engine and see what comes up...however if you look at the acreage of both they are small so the populace would be a few families...
You would need to locate the earliest record for that Townland...probably something on the Flax Growers (1796) List but I have already checked that for you and the only Farrell's listed are :

John Farrel......Brayfield
Abraham Farrell...Turlough
Dominick Farrell...Bekan
Pat. Farrell ...Kill

The next would be the Tithes (1826)...(only aval.Micro.)

I have also checked the 1846 Castlebar Comm.Directory for the Custom/Revenue Collector...its not a Farrell

The 1826 Directory doesnt list that info.

Does it give any info relative to Esther on the MC....

Have checked Griffiths for Farrells (both Curraghs)..none in Tirawley Barony.
All in Carra...sending them by PM

Thank you so very much Eringobragh, you've been incredibly helpful. The witnesses to Luis and Ester's marriage just gave E. Bellew and Mary Douglas. I also feel that I should investigate the parents of Anne Farrell baptised in Kells, Co. Meath, on the 4 June 1837. The coincidence of her parents names being William Farrell and Judith Bellew is too tempting to ignore don't you think?
