Lincolnshire Records, exellent site

Any of you that have Lincolnshire ancestors should look at this site from Lincoln Archives:

there are thousands of scanned images which you can look at for free. marriages before 1837 and baptisms and burials from the 1600's up to the 20th century.

I have found dozens of records. If you are lucky then they have been transcribed otherwise you just have to search through them by parish church much as you would have to if you visited an archive.

I have some baptisms where the lovely vicar had also recorded the mother's maiden name

good hunting.

I found this site the other day. The original register images are very sharp. I hope more counties follow!

Flick if you look up any marraiges you have found on IGI you will probably find the original record on here.

I have just looked at some 4th gt grandparents marriage from 1776 and it gives dates of Banns, and that he was a 'sojourner' in this parish , a Yeoman and also the parish of his bride which was Stamford Lincs so now I know where she came from, I never knew that before.

You also the original handwriting and sigantures.
