In the near future I am going to Cork on holiday. Both my great grandparents came to England from Ireland and married here. On the marriage certificate and consequent census records it states Cork as their places of birth. Most Irish counties have a central place you can contact to research family born there, but this doesn't seem to apply to Cork. |

Betty, wherever you go in Cork, if you can and have time, please do visit the Michael Collins Heritage Centre, the heritage centre in Cobh, and ring the bells in the Church of St. Anne Shandon :) |

Thanks for the extra message Joy. Have Michael Collins Heritage Centre on my list already, and visited Cobh some years back - although none of my relatives left for America (as far as I know), it was still very moving to visit the heritage centre. |
