Is it possible to search a farm in the Census records.

I want to find who was living at Toothill Farm and Winshaw Farm in Macclesfield Forest, Cheshire.

I found that record on Ancestry

Thomas is my gg grandfather my grandmothers grandfather.

I think that is Winshaw Farm. Farmer of a big farm at 29

This is why I absolutely hate these hypothetical questions on "Genealogy Chat" (or "Tips" in the past) that are really about specific searches and immediately turn into exactly that, as this one did.

To search by address in 1881 all you do is go there (free of charge at Ancestry I thought you knew)

and put Winshaw in the address box.

First up is a servant at Winshaw Farm.

Clicking on him, we get the household:

Thomas Cooper 29

Not sure why brummiejan said that was Winshaw cottage -- the image just says "Winshaw".

Yes, people grow a little tired of spending so much time on someone else's search ... but not fair to duplicate (in this case, triplicate) it.

I didn't know how to do it.
I am not trying to be unfair, I just want to find who lived at these farms, not always Coopers.

It does say Winshaw Cottage on Ancestry.

Ann Cooper was Ann Nield who married James Cooper.

I am interested today in the other surnames and their possible links to my family.

I guess they were all tenant farmers in this part of Cheshire.

The Earl of Derby owned the land.

Anyway I did nudge my other thread earlier today and it's still there unloved with no answers.

How is Canada today?
