Why don't you order that first marriage certificate, Rowena? At least you'll get his father's name.

Rowena Report 24 May 2011 14:16

Thankyou,

and i suppose being unmarried with kids wasnt a good thing in them days,

if they was unmarried i suppose thats why they didnt have contact with their families....and moved to a new area. Kinda making sense now x

I am pleased you are finally making some good progress with your family tree Rowena.
It is never easy, we all have hurdles that stem the progress but it is lovely to know that it is all slowly coming together for you... x

Rowena Report 24 May 2011 13:57

So, if they didn't divorce.............................!

Certainly no sign of a marriage to your mother that I can see.....

That 'first' marriage cert would seem to be absolutely essential..........

Rowena Report 24 May 2011 13:49

sorry Flick, just saw your post, yes mum was from coventry, i never thought he may have faked an age as he was 20 yrs older than mum. I believe his first wife is still alive, not 100% tho.

Rowena

Rowena Report 24 May 2011 13:47

Was your mother born in Coventry?

Have you found a death for your father's first wife?

If not, perhaps your father wasn't free to marry your mother?

Rowena

Rowena Report 24 May 2011 13:36

yes thats his death, thankyou for all this info, i honestly couldnt find anything :p ill be honest, i never know where to start

thanks again xx

Flick

Flick Report 24 May 2011 13:32

The info on the death cert is only 'as known' to the informant....and could be wrong.

As you mother was much younger, he may have knocked a couple of years off his age

His age and father's name will be on the cert of his first marriage..............

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 24 May 2011 13:31

Your birth cert is no indication of where your parents were born..........

Once you found your father's birth reg'n, you could have found the info about his parents on freebmd
