Good day all. Wonder if anyone can help. When my natural mother re-married, my "new" dad adopted me in 1968, I have the certificate, would there have been a file on me and if so how do I go about getting it. Thanks for taking the time to read this. |

Possibly only a court record as its was Mum and her new hubby who adopted you. Its not as if Social Services or other agencies were involved, |

I'm not certain but I don't think there would be the same sort of file as there would have been if you had been adopted out of the family. |

I think adoption by a step parent is a legal formality - I doubt social services were even involved |

A 'Mother's own' adoption is not recorded in the same way as an adoption by unrelated people of a third person's child. |
