Have tried that Allison but still can`t find an Arabella. I have found a Matilda Hurrell and I suppose she could have been known as Matilda, but as this is a parish council project I am working on, I am unable to buy certificates to prove the point. |

I don't think there is any way round it but to get the birth cert. A pity, you would expect it to be easy with that name!! |

Not sure it helps - probably not! - but Matilda is Caroline's grand-daughter rather than Samuel's I think. "Step-brother" means brother-in-law: |

Could it be that her parents decided to use her second name - Matilda - when she was a child but she changed to Arabella when she married. |
