I have the basic essentials membership - can anyone advise me as to whether it is worth upgrading to premium membership for the parish records? |

If you have ancestors in London, I would say definitely yes. |

Thanks, Rob. I do have a few in London, but the majority are scattered all over the country. Does what you say mean that the national coverage is quite patchy at present? |

Janet, if you don't need much from London you could do what I do - be cheeky and ask for the occasional lookup! |

If you upgrade you should get a loyalty reduction next year, if you stay on continuous membership |

Thank you for this, Jan. It does sound as though it's not worth the upgrade fee just at present. The blurb on the Ancestry site seems to imply that they have added huge chunks of data from Parish Records. But maybe I'll wait... |

Yes, Lindsey, they have offered me a discount - but I was trying to weigh up if it was really what I wanted, otherwise it's like buying something in the sales because it's on sale, not because you really need it! |

Surprised they offered discount, when I renewed and asked for a discount, stating others had received one, I was told they did not know what I was talking about, (most obstructive women) I persisted and they then offered discount, but was told in no uncertain words that this was a one off and would not get it again Ha ho will still persue next year lol. |

I was 'persuaded' by them to subscribe to Premium a couple of years ago - it was a total waste of money as far as I was concerned. I found nothing pertinent to my research that was not available elsewhere either for free or for far less. |

Thanks again to everyone for your time and advice. It looks as though, at the moment, the upgrade is not worth the price. |

I have an annual Premium ............. and wouldn't be without it, even though very few of my rellies are in London, or London area. |
