I have a Lewis Henry Haddler on the 1911 census, address is Rhodes Street Castleford, West Yorkshire and it is an unnamed institution of men of various ages, occupations and places of birth.
I would like to know what kind of institute it would have been. I have tried Google but nothing and Google Earth show a mixture of new and older houses and a garage. Anyone any ideas?

Lodging house, perhaps? The occupation of the person at the top of the return for the address might be a clue.

Yes, that's him, I should say oops mixed his names up.

on the 1911 census, next door is number 67 Rhodes Street

looking then at the enumerators list, the property where Lewis Haddler is residing is listed as a lodging house with 34 people living there, all of them are men. No head of house is given.

InspectorGreenPen, I had wondered if maybe it could be a lodging house, but wondered at the institute label.

Tempest, thank you for looking at further pages for the house next door. I use the library to get my 1911 census info so usually time is of the essence and I didn't look for other addresses near by.

I have found several of my relatives in institutions in 1911 and each one was a lodging house

Another I have found in institutions have turned out to be hospital.
Earlier census, some of my relatives were in workhouses at inmates but as some died in the workhouses maybe it was more because of ill health.
