Hi Janet

Just to add to your tip.

I have been using this site since it's inception and have had great success in getting information from the Family Notices sections of the Newspapers due to official records, in some cases, being restricted to 100 years ago. At the moment the scans only go to about 1954. Once you get the hang of filtering your search as to which State's newspapers, what section of them to search, date range and then how to display the results(earlist first etc) you do get good results.

The good part about it is that you can print the result you find (including only the page that the result is on) OR saving it to your computer as well as getting the site to automatically advising you when certain scans become available.

You must remember that this is a work in progress so you will have to keep going back to get more results.

Researching:
Matthew and Jane Elwood who had my great great grandfather Francis Edward Elwood baptised in 1807 at Horsham Sussex. There is no sign of Matthew or Jane from this date and my great great grandfather was brought up as Francis Edward Elwood MITCHELL

Janet, thanks for posting this tip. I've found a probate record, which proves a relationship, and a marriage record - including what the bride wore! Will check back often.
