Hi, I am trying to find information about Lawn House, Grosvenor Place, Margate, Kent. According to the 1881 Census it was a Religious Community and Convalescent Home. I know that it was run by the Roman Catholic Church but would like to know the following. |

Grosvenor Place still exists. If you Google map it you can wander down the road. I found an Arlington House (one of the bigger houses on the left hand side) but some of the house names have long gone. There also seem to be a few newish houses on the right hand side. I don't think the house is there anymore. |

Hi Mrs Grumpy, Thank you for your reply. I did 'google' and found that the street still existed but it would appear that the house, if still there, has changed name or in fact demolished. |

There was a big fire in Grovesnor Place in 2009, which may have destroyed the buliding. |

Once they had reached the age to work ,and of the age when they no longer could be an inmate , if there were no relatives they could return to they may have been secured live in domestic work |
