How do I find birth and marriage information from Irish records? Ive got as far back as great grandmother and got stuck because she was born in Ireland. She was Martha McGowan died in 1934 aged 71 so born approx 1863, 1891 census gives place of birth as Ireland, death cert shows parents as James McGowan and Hannah Hardie. |

She married William Letters who died in 1890 in Dundee...then in 1901 she is in census living as housekeeper to a Owen Keelan - she had 3 children registered as illigitimate but one of them changed his name to Keelan so maybe he was father to all of them...no way of knowing...they lived 28 Greenmarket Dundee in 1901. |

Thanks - sorry to have wasted your time, really trying hard ot get my head round what i can and cant find out on here /ancestry.com etc...think i will give up meantime! Appreciate your advice, Fiona |
