Our parish council had a visit from the guy who is organising the 2011 census for part of Essex. The form is 36 pages, yes, 36, pages long with each member of the househod having several pages each to complete. |

Maybe everyone should ask the gummint for a pen so as not to waste their own ink, I can see the census taker standing at the door holding one end of a chain with the pen firmly attached to the other. |

Census enumerators will not be visiting every house - forms are to be posted to every household in the country and can also be completed online. So, if everybody with internet access uses it, what a waste of paper! |

The census enumerators main task will be following up those who have not completed a return. If they still refuse then they are reported. |

I think there's a £1,000 fine for not completing it. It's very long. But I completed one in less than 10 minutes, it might take more for a big household but each individual's part isn't that long or difficult (they need a lot of samples for the data inputters to practise on.) I think they're still expecting 75% of people to complete the paper version. It'll probably be the last paper census. |
