Double Birth Registration

Just looked up birth registration and have found |

Its because the parents werent married but the father attended th registration and his name is on the birth cert. Whichever surname you order the cert in you get the same cert, Technically the child can call themselves by either surname |

post 1911 though the mmn will be on the GRO record so you can tell if its different children |

The indexing of both father and mother's name is a relatively recent practice, and certainly I have not seen any examples in, say, the 1800's |
