Senectus old age that makes sense as she was 83 but he (with the Anectus was 92. Maybe the registrar mmade a mistake??

Anectus being a saint maybe he was considered a martyr!!!

It is definitely one word in both cases with an e in the middle (theyw ere husband and wife.

Thanks I have looked closely again. one is definitely ANECTUS a male 1865). But the other is not so clear and looks more like SENECTUS (a female 1869) given that the same person has written both one definitely starts with A the other could be S or C or he could have changed his style of writing A, there is a loop.

The only old word I can find for a serious illness/disease starting 'an' is

Anasarca: Generalized massive edema. Generalised massive dropsy

Yes, just the one on two certificates both signed by the same registrar in 1865 and 1869

As far as I can tell it is Anectus.

when i search on that I get a saint and nothing else. Anyone any idea?
