Think this one may take more than luck!

It may help if you could post the details from the census you've found so far, even they are difficult to find but might give some more clues.

Rosie Report 19 Jan 2011 19:29

But please note: He is still only giving the age of 22. When he wed 5 years earlier he said he was 21. Another fact that has made him difficult to find.
1871 census as Parnham he is I believe 8

When he died in 1888 his headsone etc reads that he was 32. its anyone guess it seems how old he actually was.

Again, 1854 birth in Lincoln just may well be right. the thing is how??

Thank you for the interest etc everyone. Here is what I have.

He wed in 1876 st Mary's Hull as George Attrick Price, 21 to Jane Hollis,18.
He is then on 1881 Census as Geo Price 22 (off top my head think this was Brampton derbyshire or Reepham Yorkshire, 1 hallidays yard?) Excuse me here, but I am disabled and in bed and cannot get info at this moment.
It was an age before I could find him prior...and Nobody seemed to fit his description/occupation in the vacinity. I became suspicious that he was indeed not a Price but a Parnham (this turned out to be in reverse at later stagege) living worksop or st benedicts Lincoln 1871. George Parnham was down as father and Jane Parnham mother. ( She was formerly Jane attrick/Hatrick b doncaster I believe and explaining the 'attrik' middle name scribbled as an after thought on the wedding cert of My George.

The Parnham theory was all supposition until I got proof late last year when someone also suggested Parnham was fitting my bill and put me onto a lead in Norfolk.
As I had heard my george had shot himself after a nasy incident and his wife was a widow in 1891 there was a time line to help me.

And finally got confirmation etc when i found George Parhams death in new buckenham 1888 along with a record from the Norfolk record office ,both confirming that both men were one and the same.

It basically said George Attrick Price, Parnham being an assumed name'. etc. in the report , of some property he had bought earlier, and finally shooting himself at that property.
Since then I have tried every which way to find how George became George Attrick Price. Could have been born as Price and may well have simply taken Parnhams name on marriage of his mother (she was single on 1851 census in st benidicts Lincoln with other members of the Parnham family, Head was Chas Russell.

She was with George Parnham senior in 1860 and wed him in 1866 I have been told.

She gives my george's birth as being in Lincoln, and there is one birth about that time for a George Price in 1854 which I have the cert for.
Trouble is the mothers maiden name is given as Formerly Jane Wilson.

I then searched in case his mother, Jane Hatrick wed prior to a Wilson, nothing. My family do have a connection to the name Wilson (my George's mother-in-law was a Wilson before she wed Hollis........and on the 1881 census mention above there is an Andrew Wilson living with My George and his wife which I feel is probably family of some kind, but may be wrong.

I feel pretty strongly that this Wilson thing may be the biggest clue to solving this mystery but I like fact not supposition.

One other thing.

When i found My George as a Parnham I noted he had an older sister Alice. I think it pretty likely that she along with my George may have been from different father(s) than Parham (theres a big gap in the childrens ages that follow them) and Alice and My George may share the same dad. Again I can find no birth for Alice having the mother Hatrick in the name of either Parnham/Hatrick or Price as yet.

I hope this all make some kind of sense. My family have proved extremely difficult to track as they have mostly traveling backgrounds......but at least with this branch Ive been able to leave the side containing the Smiths/Grays/Harris/Mobbs/and Lambs alone fpr a while! (anyone tracing them will know how many headache pills I got through for that !

Please feel free to ask if there is anything else I can help with that may bring this to a close..Kind regards Rosie

Can you pin him down on any of the censuses?

Flick

Flick Report 18 Jan 2011 12:41

As he would have been born before penalties were introduced for not registering births, his birth may simply not have been registered

He must have married..............one assumes.

Who/when did he marry?

Potty Report 18 Jan 2011 12:39

Rosie, would you like to post some details? Do you have birth certs for his children and his marriage cert? Have you found him on any census?

Rosie Report 18 Jan 2011 12:21

Im at a full stop with my G G G Grandfather's line because he was using 2 names. One was reported in the press to be an 'assumed' name when he shot himself 1888. But I can find no birth for him in either name as yet, and Ive been looking for a very long time.

Is there any way to solve a matter like this? or do I give up?

Ive tried everything to think of every angle ie his mother had him before she married: He came a baggage with is 'assumed' named father: earlier/later birth: countless birth records for the name he must have been born.....and nothing.
Is there any help out there to solve this without forking out a lot of money i dont really have? Thanks..
