My grandmother tells me that one of her ancestors was a Huguenot possibly with the name "de la Poer". She says that a pension granted to this ancestor was inheritable, staying within the family until the end of WW2 when the labour govt abolished it. I've searched for evidence of this pension, hoping it might help to identify my ancestor, but I've not been able to find anything. Can anyone shed any light on this, and give me some tips on tracking down Mr. de la Poer? |
