Don't forget about Findmypast (FMP). I have never used it myself, but some members on here do, and it too has a free trial. |

thanks for the suggestions. I guess the obvious thing would be to try searching on them first to see which comes back with results..... Just wondered though which members used and if they'd had any particularly good results and could recommend. |

I did my initial research with free trial using ancestry but I then found FMP easier. Don't forget that sometimes less details you enter in the search produces better results and also tick for varients in spelling it it allows. This is why the free trials are good. When you are new to it you don't know all the little tricks. |

You haven't actually stated what it is you are interested in searching for and for what dates. It is a bit like horses for courses, no one site is the 'best' |

Paul, another free site is 'FamilySearch.org' they also have international details. its easy to use. |
