I'm having a "silly moment", if I subscribe to Genes Platinum Subscription in order to view the 1911 census, do I still have to pay to view the individual records, or can I see everything for free? |

I think you can see everything, if in doubt contact genes. However, from what I have read on here Genes can be tricky to search, so do check out the 1911 site first and compare cost. |

Depending on the number of searches you wish to carry out, it may prove more economical to buy units on the 1911 site. |

Ancestry will soon have the 1911. It might be worth comparing the cost of Platinum on here with their subscription. |

For platinum subscription you can view as many 1911 as you wish. What I found a slight disappointment was they are not the actual record but a transcribed detail. I have found them good value for money simply because I didn't think I would research as many people as I have. I had difficulty finding one of my relatives because they had been transcribed with one extra letter attached to their name. I had to ask for help on these boards to locate. I had their address and someone on here kindly found it with that information so their site had a better search facility that this one, but when I later asked them which site it was unfortunately I didn't get a reply. -Jle |

The 'official' 1911 site has a very good, flexible, search facility. |
