Thanks Gwyn. I will certainly go and have a look at that. They certainly are a funny lot this lot. ;) If anyone wants to have a look at the other thread and see if they can come up with anything I would really appreciate it. I dont seem to be able to put together a coherent thought with them at the moment. They are driving me insane!!!! GGGggggrrrr!!!! lol xxx |

When my friend was working on her one-name study, she ordered hundreds of certificates with no problem, but one marriage cert. in particular which she wanted was refused, so the index might have been marked up in some way? |

Annulment and divorce are court decisions and are not usually communicated to Register Offices, so entries remain in the registers and we do not, unlike lots of other countries, annotate to say a marriage has ended. If a marriage was declared void, then that is a different matter. |

Annulments predate the Church of England which was largely formed as the pope refused to annul Henry VIII's marr to Catherine of Aragon. |

Would these still be in the marriage registers if the marriage was later annuled and does anybody know what year annulment sort of became legal? I know its an odd question. lol. xx |
