If you phone for a discount and get turned down it is worth trying again a few days later and at a different time of day. |

Phoned Ancestry earlier this week - was offered a 10% discount. I told them that I knew they had been offering 25% discounts to others and was then offered the 25% after a little arm twisting. I was then told I would have to phone back to get the discount as they were having trouble with their Worldwide subscriptions that day. |

Jonesey has a thread entitled it pays to be cheeky. I'm so glad he has otherwise I would have just coughed up the full amount. I rang earlier this week and was given the 25% discount. Thanks Jonesey. |

I'm really ticked off with Ancestry. My sub is with Ancestry U.K. but I am living in Canada. When it became due a couple of months ago I had an offer of a 25% discount from Ancestry.com but would have had to take the world sub to get the U.K. records which are the only ones I am interested in at at the moment. (I can look at the world records at my local library if necessary). I phoned Ancestry and was told they could not honour the discount for Ancestry U.K. I let the sub lapse for a while then re-subscribed. I'm mad at myself for not phoning them again before paying up. This was before I was aware that FMP was offering an automatic discount to their customers. |

I have belonged to this site for a few years and just received an automatic reminder of £107.40 for the Premium Subscription, phoned then up said it was too exensive, I was immediately offered same deal for £80.50. Why do they not give an automatic discount on renewals as Find my Past do now. I like their site though and would have been sorry to lose it but if they had not offered a discount I would have left out of principal and cost!!. |
