I tried Chrome a few weeks ago and hated it, so I can't advise on that.

The Adblock I linked to is specifically for Firefox. And you have to install it specifically. (It's very fast and very easy.)

So to have the right-click, block function I have, you have to be using Firefox and have Adblock installed.

I'm sticking with my Firefox for now, and it's what I always recommend!

I am with google chrome i have all these adverts on the top of my windows page which take up space and i write click it but it doesnt state block as you said is it only with firefox i can do this with ????

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1865

It's set up these days to block most standard sources of ads, like doubleclick and wunderloop (which is a source at this site).

But if you find you're seeing ads you don't want still, you just right click on the ad and select to block it, and it's gone.

I use it to eliminate annoying useless graphics on webpages too, things that are just ugly and use up space on the monitor and make me scroll more. Like the set of banner ads at the top of this page, which I think includes an orange one for FriendsReunited. I hate orange. I don't want those things using up space. Right click, block, and they're gone. Along with whatever else clutters up the top and bottom of the page, the guy in the top hat, and the background design. Crisp and clean and clear, for me!

Hi Janey

So what is Adblock and how do I get it please?

Cheers.

And now that you have Firefox -- make sure you have Adblock! If you're seeing flashing ads, you need it right away. ;)

One thought I had is that if anyone having the problem is using Firefox, you might have gone a little overboard on NoScript? It will sometimes block fill-in boxes.

Now I just have to wonder why I don't have "Use purple box to send your message. Remember, if you do not want this person to see your tree, un-tick the box above the 'Send Message' button" anywhere at all when I click on a hot match ... but that's okay, I know to do it. ;)

YES, YES, YES!!

Thanks for the tip about trying Firefox. I've just downloaded it and My Hot Matches are now as they should be - with the box to tick!!!

Thank you ever so much, you've no idea how pleased I am...

MARY

If you still have the same trouble as me try Firefox too.

Thanks to everyone for their input I truly appreciate it.

Hi,

Well I've cleared my Temp. Files, did a Re-start but nothing has changed on my Hot Matches. Is there anything else you can suggest?

Mary, can you let me know if it clearing your Temp Files and Re-starting works for you?

Cheers.

Hi Mary

Thank goodness I'm not alone - I thought it was my computer.

I've just got rid of my Temp Files and done re-start and after I've sent this I'm going to try my Hot Matches again, but I have a funny feeling that nothing will have changed? I'll let you know one way or another.

Cheers.

Hi Barry and Joyce,

Yes, it seems that its only me that is having the problem?

I know this may sound stupid, but how can I get onto Outlook Express.

We were woken up this morning by a 4.5 Quake, so maybe when I go into Hot Matches again it may have solved the problem for me - although I doubt it!

Cheers

Hi Inspector GreenPen

I was wondering if anybody else was having the same problem as myself.
Definitely no Box. but I do have Send Message.

I've been speaking to my husband about clearing the Temp Files and I shall do it tomorrow as its nearly my bedtime.

Thank you for all your help, and to everyone else, thank you too.

Cheers.

Joy.

It isn't a GR issue on this occasion, otherwise everyone would have the same problem.

Left of the words, Allow this person to view your tree, have you got a little white square box?

Beneath the same words, have you got a button marked Send Message?

If not, then the page is not displaying correctly in your browser. Clear down and re-start as I suggested.

Yes it would - my idea was the same, send message then immediately go to contacts and cancel access.
Might be an idea to try this out with someone you are already in touch with and has access, let them know what you are up to first though!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that. If the message has already gone though wouldn't the message go through to them by the time I've found my contacts though?

Cheers

Joy

I don't have your problem but I can think of a way of getting around it until you get it sorted.

Following on from brummiejan's post

Send the message.
Then go to contacts and click on the person you sent the message to and remove the permission to view your tree.

Hope it's sorted soon!

Hi,

I've just been back onto my "Hot Matches" pages and clicked on a member who I haven't contacted yet, and as I said before under the "Message Box" it says "Allow this Member to View your Tree".

But up above where it gives you directions on how to fill in your message etc., it still says "Use purple box to send your message. Remember, if you do not want this person to see your tree, un-tick the box above the "Send Message" button.

There is no button on mine, just the words "Allow this person to view your tree"!

This is why I would like to know if it has happened to anyone, or if everybody else is using internet Explorer "?

Cheers.
