I have just proudly updated my GR tree with several new generations I recently found. I find I prefer to do the GR one first, as I can see all the siblings and the layout is clear to me. |

You can download a gedcom which will be sent to you by email and open it as a new tree in FTM 2010. |

You can choose. I have 4 trees. 1 master with both side of the family, mine and hubby's, 1 just mine, 1 just him & 1 for a friend. |

I find it surprising that you prefer the GR tree to FTM. |

Each to his own I suppose, but I always work the other way, FTM is my 'Master' GR a throw away and cut down copy. |

I can see I shall have to study this further! I have never really understood how the "facts" thing worked - I didn't realise you could make your own? Have I got that right? |

You could merge it rather than overwrite it which will keep your photos. |

The beauty of FTM's fact feature is that you can create and customize your own, it the standard default ones don't quite suite. It then means that you can use the same fact heading over and over again, several times for the same person, if you want, as in the example I gave. You can also include them in your reports and charts. |

I am exposed as a dabbler! I confess I was put off by the thickness of the instruction booklet when I got FTM earlier this year. Armed with your advice, I shall try to do it the justice it obviously deserves! |
