Hi, Is anyone able to tell me if in Ireland you need to be in THE specific church where the baptism concerned took place? or are the records centralised in a particular area. Thankyou for any help. All The Best. Julie. |

from what I've found on the website when looking for baptisms is that each church seems to have it's own records |

I think the older records are centralized - maybe on a county- or diocese-wide basis, with the local churches sending in the parish registers when the book is completed. However, there usually isn't any index so, as AnnOGG suggests, it's still a case of going thru the registers church by church. There are some indices available - e.g. Co Kerry, City of Dublin - see: |
